Lovelock's very own local television station

K14KQ  is an FCC licensed low power television station located in Lovelock, Nevada.  It is owned by the Pershing County School District and operated by staff and students.  Channel 14 is supported in part by the Pershing County Television Advisory Board.

Students have not only produced, directed, edited, filmed, and acted in hundreds of video and live productions over the years, but also, they have gained valuable real world work experiences in the everyday operations of a public television station.  This experience has been exciting and has included the acquisition of many essential life skills: procuring and producing underwriting ads, publishing a monthly viewer’s guide, creating local announcements, scheduling fund raising events, hosting meet-and-greet events, and managing operational budgets.

Where it all started

At the dawn of the 2001-2002 school year, a dedicated group of high school students and their instructor, Ms. Parrish, flipped the on switch and launched the first official show on October 19, 2001, at 10:00 A.M.  Anchorwoman Chelsea Hostman christened the new show with interviews featuring Lovelock Mayor Ray Espinoza, PCSD Superintendent of Schools Dan Fox, and a "tech tip" from the IT specialist Amanda Burrows.  Other favorite shows were ones that featured the highlights from the previous night's volleyball games and additional highlights following the recent PCHS Homecoming events.
